California College of the Arts (CCA) offers STEM programs

We wanted to let you know about the STEM programs available at California College of the Arts (CCA).

Our undergraduate Animation BFA is a STEM program. This major covers everything from traditional animation to computer animation to stop motion animation and more. Like all of our programs, the faculty from the Animation department works also work in places like Tippett Studio and Pixar.

Both the undergraduate Interaction Design (IxD) BFA program and the graduate Master of Design (MDeS) in Interaction Design program fall under STEM. Interaction Design is a relatively new field and focuses on making technology more meaningful, usable and delightful. These students learn to do things like create mobile experiences, reinvent social networks and more.

All of our Architecture programs, including the Bachelor of Architecture (BArch), Master of Architecture (MArch), and Master of Advanced Architectural Design (MAAD) are STEM programs. These programs are also accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. professional degree programs in architecture.

All international students with F-1 status are eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation. OPT is a benefit connected to the F-1 status that allows graduates to stay in the US for one year in order to gain work experience in their field of study. As an added benefit, those students that graduate from STEM programs are eligible to apply for an extension of an additional two years of OPT, for a total of three years of post-graduation work experience. This is a great opportunity for international students to maximize their education and professional development here in the US. There is more information about OPT on our website.
